Martam Gram Panchayat Unit was established in the year 1996. Hitherto the
official works were carried from the house of panchayats. With the lapse of
time working process changed and need for an office was felt. As a consequence
of which with the support and financial assistant from the concerned department
Rural Management & development Department, Martam Martam GPU was
constructed. Since then many constructive works in favour of the public of
Martam Gram Panchayat Unit West Sikkim have been carried out with the available
resources and support of Rural Development Assistant (RDA) and office staffs.
Work such as Total Sanitation
Campaign, Organic Mission, Green Mission, Chief Minister Rural Housing Mission
(CMRHM), IAY, Reconstruction of Earthquake Damaged Rural House (REDRH), have
been successfully accomplished. Under Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) scheme
such as distribution of Milking Cow, Piglets to BPL family for their upliftment
and construction of Crematorium Shed and Waiting Shed were completed.
Construction of MIC, Jhora Training Work, Eco-Friendly Footpath also carried
out under the MGNREGA Schemes. all the works and schemes are passed through
Gram Sabha with public hearing. Moreover the GPU since 2006 to 2014 have been
collecting revenue under Levy & Taxes and same has mobilized and use for
paying Honorarium to Office Assistant and created such as procuring Xerox
Machine, Laminator and other essential items needed for smooth running of the
office and delivered good service to the public. It is happy to say that Martam GPU has implementing
E-governance. All the accounting process carrying in PRISOFT since 2013 Govt.
pilot project.
Martam GPU is very delighted to
send a clear message of Panchayati Rai Institution, thereby giving by full
emphasis to overall development of Martam Block. It has been successful in
mobilization of human resources for constructive works and eliminating social
evils. Health and Hygiene has been given priority and decentralization of power
has been evident from speedy work distribution, achieving and implementation of
Govt. Schemes and policy at the village level. We are indebted to the
Government of Sikkim, Officials of 29 Department under Panchayati Raj, Gram
Vikas Adhikari, along with his working staff and all the public of Martam GPU,
West Sikkim. With their genuine support Martam GPU has been fan runner in the
process of overall development.
And also extent my sincere thanks
to Govt. of India, Local NGO, Gram Panchayat Standing Committee and well wisher
for giving us support in functioning and implementation of Government policy.

With the advent human civilization, human beings started living in a society. In the course of time they learned naturally to work in mutual understanding and work for the betterment of common interest. Time has changed and people have given significance to new ideas, work culture, values and adopted new system. Whereby institution have been established to work for the betterment common and down trodden people.
I am happy and it gives me an immense pleasure to learn and share about
Martam GPU West Sikkim. With joint efforts of concerned Department, officials
of Hee-Martam Gram Vikas Kendra and all the members of Martam GPU, We have come
a long way since its establishment.
It’s our privilege to apprise you all that we have been successful in
implementing Govt. policy and Scheme. The public of Martam are generous and
extended all their help in accomplishing Green mission and Organic mission. Now
our farmers have technical knowledge and thereby embracing new farming method,
whereby they can increase their farm products, with training from capacity
building institute. Our local youths can have employment of their interest.
We are proud to share that we have been successful in construction of
CMRHM and REDRH and distribution of Govt. Schemes. Keeping in view the age of
information Technology, we are happy to launch our own web site. Now onwards
everybody can avail this facility to get information about Martam GPU. I hope
the correct information surely help the needful person for their future course
of work.
We shall leave no stone unturned to work with inclusive policy for
overall development of the Martam GPU. We extend our
gratitude to the entire department, Government of Sikkim, panchayats members,
Staffs, all the local NGOs, publics and youth of Martam under Gyalshing Bermiok
Constituency, West Sikkim. we look forward for your co-operation for future
endeavor.
